Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 +: everything that is known to us

The expectation is high around the Samsung Galaxy S9. Samsung’s next big terminal is days away from being introduced to the world and as expected, there have been all kinds of leaks that have given us an idea of how this phone will be. And we already anticipate an assumption known to all: it will be very similar to the Galaxy S8.

But that’s not bad because even with its imperfections the Galaxy S8 has been a big step forward in terms of design in the S range. This Samsung Galaxy S9 comes to polish what was already a great bet for Samsung and that only It tells us that behind this model the company can only innovate. We show you all the information about it so that you can have an idea.

Design: improved

The first thing we will talk about is the design of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 +. As we said earlier, this S9 will not be a revolution in design at all,  resembling the Samsung Galaxy S8. This is bad? Not at all. Already the aesthetic section of this device was one of its most impressive assets, so no other revolution is necessary.

What we will see in this renewal will be corrected errors. Yes, the Samsung Galaxy S8 had a couple of design flaws that are solved in this Galaxy S9. To begin with, the position of the fingerprint reader has been corrected and now we have it in a traditional location. In addition, we already accused the lack of a double sensor in the S8 (which did not matter either) and here its “is solved”.

“The Galaxy S9 will not be a revolution in design, but it will correct the few failures of the S8”

The quotation marks are because Samsung has adopted a measure that many will not like:  the double camera will be reserved for the most expensive model, the Galaxy S9 +. Of course, this does not mean we are going to get some worse pictures, but we will lose those benefits having to pay the cost of the Plus model that is already rumored to exceed 1 000 euros.

For the rest, we have premium finishes (it could not be otherwise) in the back in conjunction with a metallic edge (although it is speculated that we will have metallic materials). The button to raise and lower volume next to the lock will be on the left side of the device, leaving the controversial button dedicated to Bixby on the right as confirmed by WinFuture images. The button that presumably, you will not use.

On the front, we have the “infinite screen”  of the Samsung range with its curved edges. We will not have a physical button panel going to the device screen. The screen sizes of these two models of the Galaxy S9  will follow the same pattern as the Galaxy S8.

Display: one of the best on the market

The rumors point to already known screen sizes and a technology in which Samsung holds the reins. In the small model, the Galaxy S9, we will have a screen of  5’8 inches Quad HD and Super AMOLED technology, with the famous format 18.5: 9 panoramic leaving a resolution of  1440 x 2960.

The screen of the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus will be exactly the same but increasing the size, going from 5’7 to 6’2 inches of screen. Recall that having such small frames, we will have more screen diagonal containing the size. So with the exception of the Plus model, we can surely enjoy the comfort of the Galaxy S9.

We will also have the HDR technology and Corning Gorilla Glass protection in the Galaxy S9. These rumors are based on the previous decisions with the Samsung Galaxy S8, and we know that the guys from Samsung, when they do not innovate in a new flagship, simply update what had already worked for them.

This will position the Galaxy S9 as one of the best phones for multimedia enjoyment. As in the S8, we can change the resolution of the screen by software and adjust it to our liking. On the other hand, reducing the resolution will make us lose the definition that so characterizes the S range and of which it can boast.

Hardware: above Qualcomm?

The high-end processors from Samsung have proven their efficiency and power, being up to the last batch of processors of the competition. As always, we will have two versions of the Samsung Galaxy S in turn, with Qualcomm in America and Asia and Exynos, in international format. We will focus on the Exynos 9 9810.

We are talking about a 10-nanometer Octa-Core processor at a clock frequency of 29 GHz. Four of the cores will be Exynos M3 and another four will be ARM Cortex A55 and the  GPU they will use will be the Mali G72Mp18  and will have an LTE modem Cat 18  able to perform downloads at 1.2 Gbps and uploads at 200 Mbps.

According to the tests carried out, this Exynos would be  40% more powerful than the Exynos 8 of the Galaxy S8. We will also have, like the Huawei Mate 10, an artificial intelligence processing unit that will augur us a performance superior to the already incredible performance we obtained in the Samsung Galaxy S8. A filtering of a benchmark confirms it:

If this benchmark is true, we would have a better performance than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. This translates into a simple premise: the Galaxy S9 will be able to absolutely with everything. Games, applications, photography and everything you throw at it. It remains to be seen how high he will be of the tough rivalry that awaits him in 2018. The rest of the features are these:

  • Memories | 4 / 64GB / 128 for the basic model, and 6/64/128 / 256GB for the Plus model, expandable with micro-SD cards.
  • Batteries | 3000 mAh for the Galaxy S9 and 3500 mAh for the Galaxy S9 Plus with fast charging technology and wireless charging.
  • Connectivity | NFC, 4G LTE, Bluetooth, GPS GLONASS, USB-C, fingerprint reader, face recognition …

It is clear that the Galaxy S9 will be effective in specifications. It remains to determine the detail of if we possess the 3.5 mm jack, which is in the process of extinction today.
